Of late it seems the one constant in the NBA's Eastern Conference is the nearly-guaranteed, end-of-season underachievement of the Washington Wizards.

With a roster that seems to check off nearly each box necessary to be a contender, the Wizards seem to still find ways to underwhelm.

According to an article posted NBC Sports Washington, Wizards owner Ted Leonsis agrees and feels it is time to raise the bar.

“We need to raise the expectations. We have to make the playoffs. I'd like us to win 50 games. I'd like us to go to the Eastern Conference Finals,” Loensis said in the interview with NBC Sports Washington.

Leonsis went on to add:

“We have one of the highest payrolls in the league with the Wizards. They have a beautiful, world-class practice facility. They're healthy entering the year,” he said. “Alright Wizards. If you have this practice facility and one of the highest payrolls in the league and you're getting well-tended for your health, nutrition and the like; no excuses. Let's play ball.”

Those are strong words from an owner but they are not wrong.

The Wizards have had an in-prime backcourt of John Wall and Bradley Beal flanked with young talent throughout the roster to compliment them.

Otto Porter is a perfect piece at the small forward position and he is backed up by Kelly Oubre, another young and talented wing.

The problems have always seemed to be internal when it comes to the Wizards.

Some of Wall's teammates have been critical of the All-Star point guard, even insinuating that the team has been better with him off the court.

The Wizards have made a few changes this off-season in hopes of ending the locker room turmoil, sending center Marcin Gortat to the Clippers for Austin Rivers.

Washington has since added Dwight Howard, which gives them one of the best starting five's in the league.

It is time for all that talent to translate to team success.
