Washington Wizards center Thomas Bryant has been fined $45,000 for making inappropriate contact with an official on Thursday, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.

During the third quarter of the Wizards 97-86 preseason loss to the Detroit Pistons, Blake Griffin was seen throwing Bryant to the ground. Bryant aggressively tried to confront Griffin, however, he was restrained by teammates and referee Jonathan Sterling. Bryant then tried to shove Sterling out of the way multiple times, which earned him a technical foul. Griffin was assessed a flagrant 1 foul for throwing the Wizards big man to the ground.

During a conference call with reporters on Friday, Bryant was asked about his incident with Blake Griffin:

“Ain’t no bad blood, man,” Bryant said on Friday. “That’s all it is. Just the battle of the game going on. Just heated moments. That’s all it is.”

Nevertheless, as a punishment for trying to shove Sterling out of the way multiple times, Bryant will be fined $45,000. Despite his incident with Blake Griffin referee Jonathan Sterling on Thursday, Bryant had a spectacular game for the Wizards. The 23-year-old center finished the game with 11 points, eight rebounds and four blocks in just 29 minutes.

With the addition on Russell Westbrook alongside Bradley Beal, the Wizards will be seeking to get back to playoff contention this season. They missed the playoffs last season due to injuries to John Wall, however, their entire roster is reportedly fully healthy for this season.

The Wizards are scheduled to open up the season on Wednesday against the Philadelphia 76ers.
