In what appears to be an effort to bolster their ranks at the point guard position, the Washington Wizards have decided to sign Chris Chiozza to a training camp deal, according to a report from Keith Smith of RealGM.

Chiozza, now 22 years of age, played his collegiate ball at the University of Florida, where he led the SEC with a 3.22 assist-to-turnover ratio in his senior season. As a result of his solid play with the Gators that year, the Memphis native earned All-SEC first-team honors.

Chiozza started in five games for the Wizards in this year's Summer League, where he finished with the third-best assist average (4.8 points and 7.4 assists per game). His passing abilities were on full display, as he racked up double-figure assists in two of those outings.

With the addition of Chiozza, the Wizards' roster now stands at 18 men for training camp, leaving the team with two more spots to fill. Currently, Washington has 14 players under guaranteed contracts and both two-way spots are filled.

Chiozza is a gifted point guard with some potential. He has nice court vision and the ability to hit big shots, so we'll see if he can carve out a niche on the regular-season roster as depth behind John Wall.
