The Washington Wizards hammered the Indiana Pacers in the play-in tournament to secure a first-round date with the mighty Philadelphia 76ers. The top-seeded Sixers are the heavy favorite, but don't tell that to Wizards head coach Scott Brooks.

After demolishing the Pacers, the Wizards head coach started babbling about socks and why his team can hang with the Sixers. Seriously:

The Wizards and Sixers: totally the same because of socks!

In all seriousness, Washington has been playing some great basketball of late, coming back from a 17-32 record in early April to get in the play-in tournament and then in the playoffs thanks to Thursday's win. Russell Westbrook continues to be a triple-double machine (though he narrowly missed one on Thursday), while Bradley Beal is gutting out a hamstring injury. Beal put forth a strong effort with a team-high 25 points against Indiana.

The Wizards got contributions from up and down the roster on Thursday. Daniel Gafford and Ish Smith were huge off the bench, and Rui Hachimura and Raul Neto played well in the starting lineup. Washington shot over 58% from the field in the win.

The Sixers will be a whole different challenge, of course. They boast an elite defense led by the likes of Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons and have one of the best starting lineups in the NBA. The Wizards will throw a bunch of bodies at Embiid with their three-center rotation and will surely dare Simmons to beat them.

There's not much reason to expect Washington to beat Philly in the series. However, the Wizards could make things interesting at least given how well they've been playing over the last month and a half. And, after all, they're clearly just very similar teams because they put on their socks the same way.

Or do they?!
