The Washington Wizards are planning to sign forward Okaro White to fill their vacant roster spot, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.

White is traveling to Washington today to join the team and is slated to take the spot vacated by the waiving of Chasson Randle earlier this season.

The 6-foot-8 forward played for the Miami Heat for brief stints during two of the last three seasons, struggling to get much more than spare minutes with a career average of 13.4 per game.

White won't be the solution to the team's internal issues, but will give them a capable and versatile wing to be deployed at either forward position, capable of shooting the 3-pointer with relative success as a 35.6 percent career shooter from deep.

The 26-year-old went initially undrafted in the 2014 NBA Draft and made his chops in Italy and Greece for the next two years before joining the G League's Sioux Falls Skyforce and ultimately the Heat as a call-up.

He was signed to a 10-day contract by the Cleveland Cavaliers last season, but failed to see action with them after playing in four of their preseason games and their first three regular season games to start the year. He was waived by the Cavs at the end of the season after a relatively mute stint with the team.

The Wizards are fresh off a rousing win over the L.A. Clippers and now 6-11 through the season, only 2.5 games away from the last playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
