Early Saturday morning, Washington Wizards forward Devin Robinson was arrested after getting into a fight with Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Jalen Mills at a club in Washington, D.C.
As a result, the Wizards will not be making a qualifying offer to Robinson this offseason:
“We are aware of the incident this morning involving Devin and are disappointed in his actions,” the Wizards said in a statement, per Chase Hughes of NBC Sports Washington. “We will not extend him a qualifying offer for the 2019-20 season.”
It's not like Robinson was a huge part of Washington's plans moving forward anyway, so this incident probably served as icing on the cake in the Wizards' decision to move on from the second-year player.
The 24-year-old, who played his collegiate basketball at the University of Florida, went undrafted but signed a two-way contract with Washington during the summer of 2017.
He made his NBA debut last season, playing in one game and registering two points, five rebounds and a steal over 13 minutes of action. He then went on to appear in seven contests this year, averaging 6.7 points and 2.9 boards across 13.6 minutes per game while shooting 59.4 percent from the floor and 64.3 percent from the free-throw line.
Robinson spent most of the 2018-19 campaign with the Capital City Go-Go, the Wizards' G-League team. He participated in 22 games for the Go-Go, posting 19.9 points, 8.2 rebounds and 1.1 steals across 34.4 minutes a night while making 55 percent of his field-goal attempts, 30.4 percent of his three-point tries and 71.8 percent of his foul shots.
