The Washington Wizards are heading into this offseason having a few orders of business to take care of regarding their roster.

One of which is to work out a deal with their unrestricted free agent forward Otto Porter. According to David Aldridge of NBA.com, Porter was unable to agree to a deal with the Wizards during their meeting on Saturday.

Although it didn't go as expected, the Wizards may have to act fast in order to re-sign Porter as he could attract a slew of teams in the open market. The 24-year-old is coming off a career-best season where he averaged 13.4 points on 51.6 percent shooting from the field and 43.4 percent from beyond the arc with 6.4 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game.

It has taken Porter four seasons before beginning to hit his stride in the NBA as a productive offensive player while playing a major part in helping the Wizards reach the second round of the playoffs and a 49-win season.

If Washington loses out on him, it could push them a step back and possibly affect their extension talks with All-Star point guard John Wall, who was offered a four-year, $170 million extension on Friday. Wall has two years left on his $84.7 million deal with the team.

All in all, Wizards know how vital to their long-term future it will be to bring back Porter for next season and beyond.
