If the Washington Wizards are going to put together a late-season playoff push, they will need a lot of things to go right. That certainly includes the continued health of their top players especially Bradley Beal.

But the team suffered a huge injury scare on Saturday night. In the third quarter of their game against the Memphis Grizzlies, Wizards fans held their breath as Beal hit the floor hard.

Beal went in for the lay-up and was fouled by Memphis center Jonas Valanciunas. He went down hard and was understandably shaken up. But miraculously, the star shooting guard got back up and remained in the game, seemingly unharmed.

Losing Bradley Beal could have been the final nail in the coffin for Washington. He is arguably their best player and one of the most consistent in the game. His 37.7 minutes per game lead the NBA, and he has started each of Washington's 70 games this season.

The 25-year-old has been incredibly productive as well. He is averaging 26.0 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 5.6 assists, all career-highs while shooting 47.5 percent from the field. Beal is currently under contract for the next two seasons before he hits free agency in 2021.

The Wizards are still alive in the playoff hunt, but just barely. Entering Saturday, their 29-40 record placed them three and a half games out of a playoff spot with only 13 games left to play. The team would need to pass Charlotte, Orlando, and Miami in that short period of time — an unlikely feat.
