Former Oklahoma City Thunder and Houston Rockets point guard Russell Westbrook is now a member of the Washington Wizards. Making his Wizards debut on Wednesday evening against the Philadelphia 76ers, Westbrook wasted absolutely no time in making an impact with point guard Ben Simmons serving as one of his first victims of the year.

Not only that, but Westbrook dropped Simmons to the floor with a filthy dribble move against the 76ers as the longtime NBA guard looks right at home in our nation's capital.

Russell Westbrook was infamously traded by the Rockets to the Wizards right before the start of the 2020-21 campaign in exchange for another former All-Star point guard. With Westbrook making his way from Houston to Washington after just one season as a member of the Rockets, longtime Wizards point guard John Wall went the other way to team up with All-Star guard James Harden and his former Kentucky Wildcats teammate in center DeMarcus Cousins.

It remains to be seen as to how the Rockets ultimately fare in the absence of Westbrook and with Wall now on board, though the Wizards seem to be doing just fine early on. Countering the tandem of Wall and Harden, Westbrook will have shooting guard Bradley Beal alongside him in Washington. It is worth noting that Beal encountered a career year in 2019-20.
