About a month ago, a woman accused Memphis Grizzlies power forward Zach Randolph of strangling her in a report filed to the police.

According to the report, Randolph “strangled the victim, causing bruising to her neck.” She also claimed to have a black eye, a bruised back, and injured ribs.

In the immediate aftermath, Randolph and his agent Raymond Brothers vehemently denied the allegations. Now, new details have emerged that have cleared Randolph's name.

From TMZ:

one week later, officials say the woman changed her story … and during a police interview on March 31st, and said there WAS an argument but Randolph NEVER touched her.

According to official documents … cops say the woman told officers, “she was upset and decided to file a fabricated police report and ‘just wanted to get his money.'”

The L.A. County District Attorney’s office has tossed the case.

This is great news for Randolph as well as the Grizzlies as they start their playoff journey.

However, there will surely be some people who only see the initial report and not this follow-up one. Her allegations, despite being false, still will have an impact on his reputation, and that's a problem.
