The moment the world has been waiting four long years for is finally here. The FIFA 2022 World Cup draw has been released. It features almost all of the world's best soccer teams, with a noteworthy Italian squad missing from the tournament. Italy was shocked when they lost in World Cup qualification to North Macedonia, causing the Italian side to miss a second consecutive World Cup for the first time in their long history. But I digress.

For the first time in World Cup history, the tournament will be played during the winter months in the northern hemisphere. The tournament will be played in November and December later this year.

The 2022 World Cup heads to the Middle East for the first time ever as well, with Qatar as the host nation. The draw is such a big deal, and was able to be streamed live online, as well as watched on television.

As usual, there are 32 teams admitted into the tournament. They are broken down into eight groups with four teams each. Each team within its own group plays one another. The top two teams then advance into the knockout stages of the tournament. From there, it is single elimination until only one country stands alone as the FIFA World Cup champion.
