What will happen to Vince McMahon in the not-too-distant future is one of the biggest questions hanging over every member of the entire WWE Universe. Will he have to step down and cede power once and for all to Stephanie, Triple H, or another party like Nick Khan? Will the second-generation company leader continue to operate like nothing has changed and push forward as if everything is copasetic? Or will the 76-year-old finally show some humility, fully acknowledge his wrongdoing and leave his proverbial boots in the ring?

Well, in current AEW star Chris Jericho's opinion, the consequences likely won't be particularly severe.

Chris Jericho doesn't think Vince McMahon will suffer consequences from WWE.

That's right, in an appearance on the True Geordie podcast, Jericho was understandably asked about the situation his former employer finds himself in, and as the man formerly known as “The Ayatollah of Rock ‘N' Rolla” has a tendency to do, he responded in a candid way fueled by decades of experience in the business, as you can read below via a transcription by Fightful.

“Not really,” Jericho said when he was surprised at the allegations. “Is it a surprise in any industry when it happens? When you look at it, it's really not illegal. He had an affair, paid the lady off to not say anything, and moved on. It's almost like, ‘Okay, and?' People want to jump on it but there is still always an undertone of ‘it's wrestling. Oh, it's just wrestling,' If you look, that story came out with a bang, and then you really haven't heard anything about it since. If this was Hollywood, with Harvey Weinstein, that sort of thing…the difference between that is, he was holding women back for getting gigs, Harvey Weinstein. ‘Either bang me or you don't get the starring role.' This has never been said in Vince's thing. It was a mutual acknowledgement of the affair, he paid the lady to say nothing, and she took the money. I really know Vince well and it sucks that happened, it sucks that he did it, but is anything really going to happen from it? I don't think so.”

Now granted, that last part about Harvey Weinstein isn't necessarily correct. According to the second round of reporting on the subject via the Wall Street Journal, McMahon did send unsolicited pictures of an inappropriate nature and let an employee go because they refused to have the same level of romantic relationship as the then CEO of WWE was looking for but hey, that report didn't drop until July 9th and the podcast was only published on YouTube on July 10th, so maybe the show was booked before that further clarification came to light?

Either way, when Jericho was further pressed on McMahon continuing to appear on WWE television despite his initial accusations, he continued on with his opinion, again, per a transcription from Fightful, “That's Vince McMahon. I think it'll come and go. Is it morally right? Absolutely not. Is it illegal? No. Is it something that is going to get him into real trouble? I don't think so. Once again, unfortunately, ‘Oh, it's just Vince McMahon, it's just wrestling, of course, he's going to do that.' Those things come and go, they happen, it's too bad, but I really think it doesn't matter in the long run. Six months from now, I'll either be right or I'll be wrong.”

In that regard, Jericho is right, six months from now he will either be proven right or wrong – the only real question is whether or not any more information will come to light that affects that decision-making one way or another. Based on how things are going, the chances of that happening are pretty likely.
