Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is one of the owners of the latest edition of the XFL. With the famed actor and jack-of-all-trades entertainer just recently managing to take over after the second-coming of the XFL filed for bankruptcy earlier this year, there is no doubt that Dwayne Johnson is absolutely thrilled to be part of this installment of the alternative professional football league.

“My XFL helmets arrived to my office and (holy s***!) I’m humbled and grateful at how full circle life can sometimes be,” the former WWE superstar wrote on Instagram. “My dreams of playing in the NFL never came true, but now years later – I have the honor of buying an entire pro football league so the dreams of other players CAN COME TRUE.”

With the XFL originally popping up for just one season back in the early 2000s, WWE Chairman Vince McMahon gave it another shot earlier in the year — and a pretty solid shot it was too. Unfortunately for McMahon, despite the fact that things were going quite well for the XFL this time around, the COVID-19 pandemic wiped out the league before the season could even reach postseason play. As a result of the ongoing pandemic, the XFL more or less disbanded and filed for bankruptcy, which appeared to once again signal its demise — until “The Rock” and company came calling, that is.

Ironically enough, Johnson is one of the most famous WWE superstars of all time as the XFL will continue to be overseen by a professional wrestling legend.
