Former Pittsburgh Steelers and Oakland Raiders quarterback Landry Jones could soon just his luck in the XFL.

According to Pro Football Talk's Michael David Smith, Jones will participate in the XFL's “summer showcase” workout in Dallas on Friday.

The XFL announced today that Jones will be one of the participants in its ‘summer showcase' workout tomorrow. As PFT previously explained, the XFL is doing Combine-style workouts in each of its eight cities to try to identify the best available players.

Jones' workout is in Dallas, and although that doesn't necessarily mean he'll play for the Dallas XFL team, it seems highly likely that he will, given that he previously played for Bob Stoops at Oklahoma, and Stoops is now the coach of the Dallas XFL franchise.

Jones spent five years in Pittsburgh backing up veteran quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. He had short stints with the Jacksonville Jaguars and Oakland Raiders (a combined three months) after failing to secure his long-term future with the Steelers.

Jones threw for 1,310 yards, eight touchdowns, and seven interceptions in his five-year NFL career. Suffice to say; his next stop will be the XFL. Hopefully, Jones will thrive in the new league for years to come or his football playing career could be over.
