XFL commissioner Oliver Luck is trying his hardest to make the WWE-affiliated professional football league relevant again. In doing so, it appears as though Luck has already asked current New York Mets farmhand and outfielder Tim Tebow if he had any interest in linking up with the soon-to-be-revived XFL.

“The odds of the XFL landing the NFL’s more prominent castoffs, though, seem slight,” reads a recent article from Dan Greene of Sports Illustrated. “Luck ran into Tim Tebow at the Clemson-Alabama national title game in January and says he informally gauged the 31-year-old’s interest in getting under center again, but Tebow reaffirmed his commitment to baseball.”

Of course, Tebow appears to be committed to playing baseball as part of the Mets organization while he remains only one step away from the big leagues. On the other hand, it remains possible that the XFL explores the option of adding “Johnny Football,” who no longer has a professional football-related job with the Alliance of American Football now defunct.

“[Luck] said in March he was unsure whether the XFL would welcome Johnny Manziel, who since then played two games for the AAF’s Memphis Express,” the aforementioned Greene added.

While both Tebow and Manziel are now years removed from their respective playing careers as part of the NFL, this tandem continues to captivate football fans throughout the country to this day. However, it remains to be seen as to whether the XFL helps lure one or both of these men back to football-related glory.
