The New York Yankees managed to squeeze out a win against the Texas Rangers, courtesy of a walk-off home run from Gleyber Torres. The home run wasn't a moonshot, by any definition of the word, as it traveled a mere 369 feet into the seats as the Yankees walked off with the win. Rangers manager Chris Woodward wasn't too thrilled about the loss, and took a jab at the short corner outfield walls of Yankee Stadium when discussing the walk-off homer, via Talkin' Yanks.

“Small ball park. That's an easy out in 99% of ballparks. The wind wasn't helping today, obviously, but, 3-1 count… He just happened to hit it in a Little League ballpark,” Woodward said after the loss.

Shots have definitely been fired, as Woodward was less than thrilled with the result of Sunday's game, the first leg of a doubleheader. We'll see if things get chippy in Game 2, but it's safe to assume that Woodward's comments won't have gone unheard by Yankees players.

Regardless of Woodward's comments, the Yankees ballpark gives the same advantage to both teams playing in it. Perhaps Woodward is just disappointed his own $500 million tandem of Corey Seager and Marcus Semien weren't able to park a ball in the bleachers at Yankee Stadium. While Torres' blast may not have been a home run in most ballparks, the only one that mattered in this instance is Yankee Stadium. Woodward can continue kicking rocks over the walk-off home run, or perhaps encourage his team to pick up its performance, having gotten off to a dismal 10-15 start to the year.

The Yankees and Rangers could have a bit of a rivalry brewing, but for now, both teams will focus on trying to pick up another win in Game 2 of the doubleheader.
