Nick Young remains a Los Angeles Lakers player after a long summer of trades and trade rumors.

He is excited about the opportunity to play under a new coach and a new set of circumstances to boot.

Not only does he feel gratitude to play under coach Luke Walton, but he feels he will be more effective under him than he was playing under Byron Scott.

Young spoke with reporters on media day about his new found optimism.

The style of play fits my style. I can still be me here a little bit and nobody here is harping on my personality no more. That’ll be all right.

Young also revealed that he is moving past the debacle with D'Angelo Russell and the cell phone footage shared that resulted in a dissolved marriage.

I’m here for the team. We both are. So we put all that stuff behind us and go out there and try to do our job.

Many believed Young would have been traded by this time. The Lakers acquired Luol Deng, and drafted Brandon Ingram, both whom play the same position as him.

Young did say it hurt him to hear all of the trade rumors, but has decided to go with the flow and focus on the here and now, and just wants to play.

He also believes the team will be fine as long as the young guys step up to the plate.

Even if a trade occurs later, Young is just happy to be playing at home where he grew up.

I love L.A. This is where I grew up. I think I’ll be all right here
