Earlier this year, with Taylor Swift a fixture at many of Travis Kelce's Kansas City Chiefs games throughout the regular season and playoffs, the public was treated to exposure galore of America's sweethearts, but the offseason has been another story. Now, the 2024 Met Gala is upon us Monday night — which some view as the Super Bowl of fashion, an industry both Swift and Kelce know a thing or two about.

With their fans and the media clamoring for a peak at the couple out and about again after a months-long (mostly full-time) hiatus from being center stage as the general public's viewing spectacle, the question being asked in Swiftie circles today is — will Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce be at the 2024 Met Gala?

One thing these two lovebirds have not shared yet is a red carpet appearance together. Swift has attended the Met Gala six times previously (most recently in 2016), and Kelce has yet to attend the event. Kelce would probably rather go to a Mets game than a Met Gala if it was up to him, but as the boyfriend of the most famous pop star in the world who's also a fashion trend-setter, this feels like an event he should probably circle on his calendar.

However, it's not exactly that easy. Swift is about to gear up for another stretch of her globe-trotting The Eras Tour in Paris — which also happens to be her first concert stop since the release of her record-shattering 11th studio album, The Tortured Poets Department. She therefore has a lot on her plate at the moment, so there's been a lot of back-and-forth from sources on whether or not she and Kelce would be attending the Met Gala.

With her first Paris concert taking place on May 9 — this Thursday — People is reporting that Swift is opting to skip the Met Gala this year in favor of focusing on concert prep. This undoubtedly means that Kelce will be a no-show as well (verdict is still out on his presence at the Mets game though).

Luckily for fashion fans, there will still be plenty of icons at the famed Metropolitan Museum of Art's prestigious annual fundraiser.

The show, which boasts an artistic theme every year to give celebrities something to work with when choosing a wardrobe, this year is going with “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion.” The theme is accompanied by an exhibit highlighting around 250 items from over a 400 year span of fashion history, such as an 1877 Charles Frederick Worth silk satin ball gown.

Andrew Bolton, the Wendy Yu Curator in Charge of the Met's Costume Institute, said “It is very much an ode to nature and the emotional poetics of fashion.”

The theme for the dress code itself at the Gala is “The Garden of Time,” a reference to J.G. Ballard’s 1962 short story of the same name. Chances are we lost Travis Kelce at “ode to nature,” and since Swift doesn't have time to help dress her beau properly, maybe it's for the best he doesn't attend.

There will be plenty of other stars in attendance, however. Zendaya, Jennifer Lopez, Chris Hemsworth and Bad Bunny are all co-chairs of the event. So despite the lack of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce in attendance, those watching or attending the 2024 Met Gala should have plenty of fashionable celebrity eye candy to savor.
