Abbott Elementary creator Quinta Brunson introduced her mom to Young Sheldon star Iain Armitage. The gesture brought Brunson's mom to tears in a heartwarming story.

During an appearance on Late Night with Seth Myers, Brunson revealed that her mom is a big Young Sheldon fan. She said that her mom “freaked out” over meeting Armitage.

“I have introduced my mom to mad people on FaceTime, including Patti LaBelle last week, which was really, really cool. She was so sweet and it was incredible,” Brunson said. “But you know who my mom freaked out over, like, dropped her phone? Young Sheldon.

“I was with him at a WB mixer — and he's such a sweetie pie, by the way — Iain is incredible, very talented, very sweet. And my mom, she loves the show, I know she loves it. And we took a picture, I said, ‘You mind if I FaceTime my mom? This would make her day.' I didn't know that it would make her day so hard that she would have to get a new phone. She was like tearing up and crying and it was so sweet,” she continued.

She also added, “I've never seen her react that way for anyone.” Even after she got her phone back, her mom asked for Armitage again.

Quinta Brunson is most known as the creator of the hit ABC series Abbott Elementary. The series has run for three seasons so far and Brunson also stars in, writes, and executive produces the series.

Iain Armitage was the star of Young Sheldon, which just aired its series finale. For seven seasons, he played a younger version of Sheldon Cooper, a role previously held by Jim Parsons on The Big Bang Theory. Before the series, Armitage gained notoriety for his role in Big Little Lies. He has also starred in films including The Glass Castle, Scobb, and PAW Patrol: The Movie.

What is Young Sheldon?

Young Sheldon was a prequel series of The Big Bang Theory. It depicted the early life of Sheldon Cooper as the child prodigy goes through high school and college. Armitage starred in the title role alongside Zoe Perry, Lance Barber, Montana Jordan, Raegan Revord, and Annie Potts.

Chuck Lorre, who co-created The Big Bang Theory with Bill Prady, co-created Young Sheldon with Steven Molaro. The prequel series diverted from its predecessor by being a single-camera sitcom.

But after seven seasons, Young Sheldon came to an end on May 16. A two-part finale aired and provided an appropriate send-off for the characters. Sheldon went off to Caltech as Mary (Perry) sold her house after the death of George Cooper (Barber).

However, the legacy of Young Sheldon will continue on. Armitage may be done playing the part — at least for the time being — but a spin-off series was announced, Georgie and Mandy's First Marriage. As the title suggests, it will continue the stories of Georgie (Jordan) and Mandy (Emily Osment) as they raise their child.

Georgie and Mandy's First Marriage will take over Young Sheldon's spot in CBS' slate. It will premiere in the fall of 2024.
