After releasing two albums in 2023, Ed Sheeran isn't releasing new music in 2024. However, the material he is working on is a hit amongst his children.

Will Ed Sheeran release new music in 2024?

Speaking to People at the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation Gala, Sheeran gave a disappointing new music update. When asked what he could say about the new music, Sheeran joked, “That I'm working on them and they're new songs.”

“But nothing's going to come out this year,” Sheeran revealed. “I'm enjoying being on tour. I released two records on tour last year and it's quite a lot being on tour and releasing records. So, I've made the new music and I'm just going to sit on it for a bit.”

However, his young children, Lyra, 3, and Jupiter, 2, love the new material. People asked if they listen to his music. Sheeran revealed that they do, but it's largely new music.

“Yeah, of course, of course,” he replied. “Mostly my new songs because I don't really play my old songs in the house.

“I feel it'd be quite weird to just put on my discography, so they mostly know the new songs that I'm working on because I play them quite a lot,” he continued.

He played a 15-song set at the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation Gala. The entire set was filled with his biggest hits. Most of the songs came from his 2014 album, Multiply, which was perhaps done to refresh Sheeran on the songs ahead of his 10-year anniversary gig.

Currently, Sheeran is playing a few special gigs before resuming his “Mathematics” tour. He played the Dodgers Foundation Gala, Formula 1's Miami Grand Prix Concert, and the 2024 F1 Miami Grand Prix.

Coming up, Sheeran will play a one-off 10-year anniversary show at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, for his Multiply album. After that, Sheeran will play a show at the Boston Calling and BottleRock festivals.

On June 8, Sheeran will resume the “Mathematics” tour in Lucca, Italy. He will play dates across Europe before wrapping up on September 19, 2024, with a show in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Ed Sheeran has released seven studio albums to date. He made his debut with Addition in 2011 before subsequently releasing Multiply and Divide. In 2019, he released an album of collaborations with other artists, No.6 Collaborations Project. He then released Equals in 2021.

2023 was a big year for Sheeran. As he told People, he released two albums while he was on the “Mathematics” tour. First was Subtract, the album closed out his math symbol-titled albums series.

The album would land a Best Pop Vocal Album at the 2024 Grammys. Sheeran ultimately lost to Taylor Swift's Midnights album. Later in 2023, Sheeran released Autumn Variations. The album will likely kick off a series of seasons-titled albums.
