Ed Sheeran made good on his promise to celebrate his second album, Multiply (stylized as “X”), turning 10. In honor of its anniversary, he will perform a show at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

The “Perfect” singer took to Instagram to announce the special show. In the video, several Sheerans are sitting in a room when a main one comes into the frame. They are all donning giant green Xs across their chests, showing off the new merchandise. “Sing” plays in the background as he promotes the show and coinciding merchandise.

“Multiply tenth-anniversary merch out now, Barclays Center twenty-second of May, see you there. Tenth-anniversary show,” he said into the camera.

In the post's caption, Sheeran reflected on the journey he's been on since Multiply. “10th anniversary of Multiply this year, which feels wild but also a lot has happened in that 10 years,” Sheeran's post began. “This album was made from 2011 – 2014 and spanned my whole personal life through that time, which was a mad time. Going from playing pubs and clubs to selling arenas in those years, falling in and out of love, traveling all around the world, working with some of the best producers in the world, it was a real rollercoaster, and it’s been amazing to revisit all the memories.

“Can’t wait to experience the Multiply show with you, and remember some amazing moments over this summer together. Multiply anniversary show is on 22nd May at Barclays Center New York,” he continued.

Tickets for the special show go on sale on May 6. Fans can sign up for access through the link in his bio. A whole new slew of merchandise was also made available for pre-order including hoodies, new CDs, and more.

Ed Sheeran's Multiply

It's likely that this will be a one-off show. After all, Sheeran is busy going around Europe and other countries in 2024 on his “Mathematics” tour. He is returning to the United States for two festival shows in May.

First is the Boston Calling festival on May 24. Two days later, Sheeran will follow that up with a set at BottleRock in Napa Valley, California. From there, Sheeran will return to Europe, playing shows in Italy beginning on June 8.

The “Mathematics” tour has been Sheeran's most ambitious tour to date. It celebrates his first six albums (most of which were named after math symbols such as Multiply's logo being an “X”). The tour commenced in April 2022 and has been going strong since. During the 2023 leg, Sheeran also embarked on the “Multiply” tour, which focused on the title album. Shows were usually played in theaters close to the stadiums the “Mathematics” tour would make its way to.

Multiply helped launch Sheeran's career. Songs like “Sing,” “Photograph,” and “Thinking Out Loud” remain staples of his career. The album was nominated for Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album at the fifty-seventh Grammys. One year later, “Thinking Out Loud” won Best Pop Vocal Performance and Song of the Year. It did miss out on Record of the Year, though.

What will Ed Sheeran play during the Multiply 10-year show?

Presumably, Ed Sheeran's 10-year Multiply anniversary show will see the album played in full. Surely, Sheeran will also play other hits from his other albums during the show as Multiply is just 12 tracks.

A good template to look at could be Sheeran's special shows for Autumn Variations in 2023 at the Royal Albert Hall. On November 18 and 19, Sheeran played gigs just for the new album.

During the shows, Sheeran and his band played Autumn Variations in full. He would then play 11 or 12 more songs after which was filled with his biggest hits. It's very possible he takes a similar approach to the Multiply gig.
