Bill Belichick was the unabashed leader of the New England Patriots during his long run as coach of the team that included six Super Bowl triumphs. The first of those came at the conclusion of the 2001 season when Tom Brady led the Patriots to an upset over the explosive and heavily favored St. Louis Rams. Notable in that game is that Belichick had to make the choice of inserting second-year quarterback Tom Brady into the starting lineup over Drew Bledsoe.

Since Brady would go on to an incredible career that would include seven Super Bowl titles, it may seem like it was an easy choice for the coach. However, it was anything but. Bledsoe had been injured early that season and that's what gave Brady a chance to play in the first place.

Bledsoe recovered late in the year, and he played a key role for New England in their AFC Championship Game triumph over the Pittsburgh Steelers on the road. As a result, many expected Belichick to go with the veteran quarterback in the Super Bowl. He did not do that, and it was clearly a disappointment for Bledsoe. With a different decision, Bledsoe could have been the quarterback that kicked off the Patriots dynastic run.

Belichick, Bledsoe, Brady reprise those roles at roast

More than 22 years after that historic NFL moment, all the parties got together at a live roast televised by Netflix for Brady. In one scene, Belichick sees Bledsoe and tells him it is great seeing him again.

“This is a great night,” Belichick said while looking directly at Bledsoe. “The fans want you, everyone wants you. But it's not your night. Sorry Drew.

“Brady, you're in. Let's go.”

Bledsoe was seemingly unhappy with the decision and he clearly had a scowl on his face. “Again?” Bledsoe says. ” Are you f**king kidding me?”

The hilarious send up was a part of the Brady roast that included comedians Kevin Hart and Nicky Glaser.

Glaser roasted Brady, and also got in a shot at his former tight end Rob Gronkowski. She asked Brady how he could have possibly lost $30 million in a Crypto deal.

“Tom, how could you possibly fall for that. Even Gronk was like, ‘me know that nor real money.' ”

Massive howls of laughter followed at the skewering of Gronkowski for the familiar take that he may not always make the smartest decisions.

Others who roasted Brady included Julian Edelman, Gronkowski, Bledsoe, Randy Moss and Kim Kardashian.

Hart hosted the event and his roasts included multiple takes on Brady's ex-wife Gisele Bundchen.

“Gisele gave you an ultimatum,” Hart started. “She said you have to retire or you're done. But when you have a chance to go 8-9 you gotta do it.”

Tom Brady looked uncomfortable while Hart was riffing and raised his drink to the crowd at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles.
