While everyone focuses on the upcoming NBA Draft, who will the #1 and #2 picks be for the Philidelphia 76ers and the Los Angeles Lakers, whether that be LSU's Ben Simmons or Duke's Brandon Ingram, there has been a new rule instituted that players have been looking forward to for a long time.

The NCAA is now allowing it's players to declare for the NBA Draft and withdraw from the draft with a cushion. In the past, once a player withdrew from the NBA Draft after declaring, his college eligibility was stripped. Now the players can declare for the Draft, withdraw their names, and still remain eligible to play in the NCAA as long as they do so before the May 25th deadline. This can only be done after their freshman year, in which they can declare and withdraw as many times as they wish.

In 2016 there were a total of 162 players which included 117 NCAA players, that declared early for the 2016 NBA Draft. That number has now been reduced to almost half. 57 prospects have withdrawn their names from the Draft and are headed back to the NCAA.  Expect to see more of this in the coming years when players find themselves not so favorable on draft boards.
