Somebody call 911. Another ankle was blown out in Los Angeles. I repeat: Another ankle got ripped open in Tinseltown. This time, the victim is Los Angeles Lakers backup guard Tyler Ennis, who just became the Wesley Johnson to Portland Trail Blazers court general Shabazz Napier’s James Harden after this embarrassing defensive play.

The incident happened early in the second quarter with the Lakers trailing Portland by eight points. Shabazz Napier found himself stuck with Tyler Ennis, who was doing his best to prevent Napier from doing anything with the ball. Unfortunately for Ennis, the Blazers spitfire guard unleashed a series of dribbling and hesitation moves that left the former Syracuse Orange falling to the floor. Once he got separation, Napier pulled up for a jumper and made it. The only thing missing here is Napier suddenly growing a beard.

Napier has been a fine asset for Portland off the bench. He is averaging 9.3 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 2.1 assists on 21.2 minutes per game. When Damian Lillard spent time on the sidelines earlier this season, Napier stepped up and gave stability to Portland’s backcourt.

As for Ennis, he will have a full day of rest Tuesday to help his ego recover. Perhaps he should stay offline for the meantime, as highlights of him crashing to the floor are not going away for at least the next several hours.

The Lakers will travel back home after the Lakers game to face the New York Knicks Tuesday, while the Lakers get the Orlando Magic at Staples Center on Wednesday.
