Right tackle Ja'Wuan James might not have been the addition that made the most offseason headlines for the Broncos, but he's already making an impact on the team.

Denver signed James to a four-year, $51 million contract after free agency opened in March and the deal leaves him behind only Raiders' tackle Trent Brown on the list of highest-paid players at the position. At the time, some questioned the financial commitment made to James. But Von Miller doesn't seem to care.

“He’s the best right tackle I’ve had to go against (in practice) throughout my whole career here,” Miller said via the Denver Post, “and I said that last year with Jared Veldheer and we got even better this year with Ja’Wuan James so I get to spar, get better and sharpen the sword every day with him and (left tackle) Garett Bolles. It’s going to be a great year for the offense and defense.”

James' addition filled a revolving door the Broncos have had at the right tackle spot for several years.

Heading into 2018, James declined a contract extension from the Dolphins and opted to play on the 5th year option that the Dolphins had picked up in 2017. He played well enough to earn a lucrative contract from the Broncos.

Of course, Miller’s been able to thrive regardless of who he is going up against in practice, although the offensive line has been sub-par during the Broncos' three-year playoff absence, so a strong year from James would go a long way.
