Veteran Patrick Beverley is heading to free agency again this summer, and although he has interest in staying with the Milwaukee Bucks next season, he does believe that he should be in line for a raise and will let the business side of it take care of itself.

“I want to stay with Milwaukee,” Patrick Beverley said on his podcast. “I want to see what goes here, but you know, I also played well enough in the playoffs to get a little bump, you know? That's the business side of it. So whatever happens with that happens.”

Last summer, Beverley signed a one-year, $3.196 million contract with the Philadelphia 76ers. He was hoping to be a key rotational piece for a 76ers team that was trying to get over the hump in the eastern conference. Eventually, Beverley was traded to the Bucks in exchange for Cameron Payne and a 2027 second-round pick. Both the Bucks and the 76ers were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs.

The Bucks lost in six games to the Indiana Pacers, and the injuries to Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard played a large role in that. The 76ers were eliminated in six games, losing to the New York Knicks. Philadelphia dealt with the absence of Joel Embiid for much of the regular season.

Beverley scored in the double figures twice in the series against the Pacers. He is known for being a pest on the defensive side of the ball who brings fire with his play.

Patrick Beverley's career journey to Bucks

Beverley has played 12 seasons in the NBA. He started out with the Houston Rockets in 2012-2013, joining the team after playing in Greece and Russia the three years prior. He was a part of the Rockets team that became a contender in the Western Conference, but never got over the hump in large part due to the Golden State Warriors dynasty.

After the 2016-2017 season, Beverley moved to the Los Angeles Clippers. He would play there for four seasons, trying to play a key supporting role once Kawhi Leonard and Paul George came over. That team was unsuccessful in trying to win an NBA championship as well.

In 2021-2022, Beverley joined the Timberwolves. That season, the Timberwolves made the play-in tournament. He was a veteran presence for a team that had Anthony Edwards and Karl-Anthony Towns.

The last two years, Beverley has changed teams in the middle of the season. In 2022-2023, he started with the Los Angeles Lakers, then finished the season with the Chicago Bulls. As mentioned before, Beverley went from the 76ers to the Bucks in a trade during this season.

Entering the later stages of his career, it will be interesting to see where Beverley lands next season with a four-game suspension kicking in as well.
