Carmelo Anthony may not have any rings like most NBA greats, but his prowess in the game has certainly shined throughout his career. Now the all-time leading scorer for Team USA, the Knicks small forward reflects on his potential to further solidify his legacy with a third gold medal.

“Most athletes don't have an opportunity to say that they won a gold medal, better yet three gold medals,” Anthony told ESPN's Marc Stein. “I would be very happy walking away from the game knowing that I've given the game everything I have (and) knowing I played on a high level at every level: High school, college, won in college and possibly three gold medals.”

Three gold medals is quite the accomplishment for any basketball player. If Melo and his team can secure the Olympic Games, he will be the only player ever to have 3 golds under his belt..

“I can look back on it when my career is over – if I don't have an NBA championship ring – and say I had a great career,” continued Anthony. “”Of course, because we play in the NBA that's always the goal: to win an NBA championship. But every year [there's] a new champion, so you have an opportunity to compete for a championship every year. This is every four years.”

Sure, he may just be riding the coattails of a team that simply overwhelms the rest of the world's talent, but it's still an accolade he has worked for, and no one can take that away from him. Let's wait and see if he can lead this team to this ultimate win.
