Ready for Charles Barkley's worst take yet?

Amazingly, TNT's NBA analyst had this to say about the current state of the NBA:

The worst it's ever been? A lot of people might disagree with that. In fact, who wouldn't?

Most would suggest the opposite is true and that the league is in better shape than it's ever been.

Barkley's main point has to do with the few teams at the top that seemingly have a chance to win a championship. That may be true, but when has that not been the case?

If you go back through every season, there's always just a few teams that have a chance to win it all. You almost always need an all-time great player to win a ring, unless you're lucky enough to strike during those small windows when the league is transitioning from one all-time great to the next (See: 2004 Pistons).

That's how it's been forever so it's unfair to say that the rest of the teams in the league stink just because they don't have LeBron James or Stephen Curry.

Barkley has always been entertaining and that's not changing anytime soon. But it's becoming harder and harder to take some of these takes seriously. You know what you're getting with Chuck and logic is not always included.
