The Lob City era of the Los Angeles Clippers was unquestionably one of the best times for the franchise. However, despite the potential, those Clippers never truly lived up to the hype, failing to even reach the Western Conference Finals.

Former Clipper Dahntay Jones revealed his first-hand take to Clips Nation's Farbod Esnaashari on why the Lob City Clippers ultimately fell short.

“They weren’t at the right age to coexist together,” Jones explained. “As you get older you know how to put some of the egos aside, and learn how to work better with each other. There was a lot of talent, a lot of different personalities, but when you get older you learn how to make those things work. You push forward for a common cause, but they weren’t at the right age to do that.”

Jones, who was with the Clippers during the 2014-15 season, has an insider's perspective on the matter. That year, the Clippers fell to the Houston Rockets in the second round of the playoffs after leading the series 3-1. To this date, the Clippers have never gotten past the conference semifinals.

Chris Paul was 26 when he signed for the Clippers in 2011, while both Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan were only 22 at that time. The disparity in age — and maturity — may very well have been one of the downfalls of Lob City, as Jones believes.
