Stephen Curry‘s rise and fall in the eyes of NBA fans has been lightning fast this past year.
The former beloved kid by everyone and the appreciation of his exciting gameplay eventually turned overnight and Curry became a villain. This was further enhanced after the Finals defeat and the forming of a super-team along with Kevin Durant.
One of the first things the internet roasted about Stephen Curry was a particular colorway of his Under Armour Curry 2 Low shoes. The Chef Curry 2 Low was a release of a triple white colorway and internet hated them.
Immediately, they were described as “dad shoe” or “nurse shoe”, even making comparisons with the favorite of most dad's, the white Air Monarchs. Curry tried to battle the criticism by appearing publicly with the shoe. He even wrote on them the word “Straight” followed by fire design. Despite his claims of the shoe being “straight fire”, it is still to this day hated and roasted.
GQ's YouTube channel decided to hit the streets with a pair of Chef Curry 2s and asked random dads of their opinions on it. Lots of interesting responses came out and seems like the shoe is finally getting some love.
A great shoe overall when not taking into account the colorways. Curry 2, especially the mid version, is a very solid performance basketball shoe. But Chef's colorway will never create any positive hype around it. It goes down in history as one of the most hated shoes ever.
