Los Angeles Lakers guard D'Angelo Russell and Luke Walton have been off to a great start in developing a great relationship.

It's important because Russell is one of the young players to lead the team into the next era of Lakers basketball, and Walton being the chosen coach to guide him along the way, and they are both building the chemistry necessary to get the job done.

Russell views Walton more like a big brother rather than an authoritarian like the last head coach Byron Scott. It's making things easier for him and he's more receptive being a new player in the league.

The two are getting closer, but they have always had a pretty good relationship. As a matter of fact, Russell used Walton in NBA2K quite a bit growing up.

Russell told  Kevin Ding of Bleacher Report

I told him I remember playing with (Walton) on 2K.I used to always play as him. I'm a fan. I'm definitely a fan.

That's probably something you won't hear anyone else say because Walton was never a stand out player in the video game, nor was his rating or ability super charged, but Russell has his reasons.

Because he was a point forward. I can't speak on Elgin Baylor and all those guys, but my era, I know he was a point forward

That wasn't Walton's role on the Lakers when he was a player, but he was a good passer. However, after learning about all these, it's still hard to fathom D'Angelo Russell's claim.
