Dave Joerger is coming into Sacramento with hopes of changing the culture.

Losing has been the norm for so long for the Kings that it's almost become expected. The franchise has become a laughing stock in many respects.

The team has talent this season, so much that its ranked 6th overall in NBA 2K17. Joerger is hoping to maximize that talent and that starts by committing on the defense end of the floor.

Joerger was asked what he would do if a player isn't playing defense.

“You don't play them. It's pretty simple,” he said.

He was then asked if he would do the same if that player was DeMarcus Cousins.

Always.

Boogie has a reputation for displaying some not so great behavior on the court. He's been known to pout and give up a time or two on defense. It's led to videos like this surfacing.

Joerger isn't going to stand for anything like that.

What can be frustrating with Cousins is he has the potential to be a very good defender. He moves his feet very well and is always among the best big men when it comes to taking charges. He also has an impressive wingspan made for blocking and altering shots. It really all comes down to commitment with Boogie.

He's been able to get away with it in recent years, partly because of how good he is offensively, but that may change soon. Joerger comes in from the Memphis Grizzlies, where defense is in their DNA. He wants to bring that to the Kings and it starts with their best player.
