The Dallas MavericksDirk Nowitzki is entering his 19th season in the NBA and is not appearing to slow down any time soon.

Already regarded as one of the greatest shooters in league history, it's still difficult to think when he'll decide to hang up his sneakers for good.

And when he does, it will be the end of a stellar career that has seen him win an MVP award in 2007 and a championship in 2011, among his biggest achievements. But as early as now, the 38-year-old German is already starting to ponder on what he'll do after playing in the league.

Despite a front office post in one of his home country's top soccer teams seemingly just waiting for him, he thinks his future is in Dallas, where he has spent his entire NBA professional career. Via Eddie Sefko of Sports Day:

“I think my future is more in the U.S. I think we've been here too long. I don't think I can do a job like that if I'm not there full time. Our kids were born here. Both have American passports. So for now, I think Dallas will always be home. I can't be a manager or have influence on a team if I'm not there and can't do stuff every day. I don't want to do something halfheartedly. So that's not something that's in the plan.”

Nowitzki and his wife, Jessica, are expecting the birth of their third child next month. His kids were all raised in the U.S. which makes it more difficult for him to decide to move to another country, even if it's Germany. When he retires, he looks forward to spending time with his growing family first and then think of what he wants to do next once he reaches that point.

“Not sure. Eventually you got to find something to do. You can't just sit in the house for the rest of my life. I'm sure there are some challenges waiting for me.”

Being one of the most successful players in the NBA, it will be very hard to imagine the 13-time All-Star not doing well in whatever endeavor he'll pursue after. And should he decide to still live in the country, specifically in Dallas, he knows he'll be welcomed there as he is the Mavericks' greatest player ever.
