Hurricane Matthew was been ravaging the Caribbean and now it's made landfall along the Southeast coast of the United States. Among the numerous ramifications, one of the least meaningful is whether or not a football game is played.

Still, as a business, the NFL needs to be prepared. Yesterday, it was reported that the league has made contingency plans in case Sunday's game in Miami between the Dolphins and Titans needs to be moved.

The Dolphins shut down their practice facility yesterday in response to the storm, but they opened it back up today.

They're still using caution, though:

Likely a go

Despite all of the concern, all indications point to Sunday's game in South Beach being a go, according to Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald. The hurricane's path is expected to run north of Miami, limiting the severity of the weather that will hit South Florida on Sunday afternoon.

Before addressing the status of the game, Dolphins CEO Tom Garfinkel expressed concern for the people of Haiti. From Adam H. Beasley of the Miami Herald:

“Obviously, right now we’re thinking about the people in Haiti,” Dolphins CEO Tom Garfinkel told the Miami Herald. “There’s a lot of uncertainty around what will happen in the next few days, and we’re watching it very closely. We’ll be prepared to react however we need to when we have more information.”
