The Indiana Fever surprised nobody when they selected Iowa star Caitlin Clark with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft. Clark had been the consensus No. 1 pick in the draft going back to last season. Amid a surge in popularity for women's basketball, the WNBA is set to reach new heights with Clark in the fold. During a recent preseason game between the Fever and the Atlanta Dream, Caitlin Clark went full court and finished a play through traffic while drawing the foul that had fans buzzing on social media.

Coming into her rookie season with the Fever, many current and former players as well as fans and media wondered how Caitlin Clark's game would translate to the WNBA. She's played in two preseason games so far and she's seeming answered those questions.

In her first preseason game agains the Dallas Wings, Clark finished with 21 points, three rebounds, two assists and two steals. She shot 6-15 from the field including 5-13 from three point range and 4-5 from the free throw line.

In the game agains the Dream, Clark finished with 12 points, eight rebounds and six assists. She shot only 4-12 from the field and 2-9 from the three point line though. It's clear that Clark's skills are going to translate to the WNBA, it's just a matter of her adjusting and getting used to the difference in pace and physicality to the college game.

For fans watching on social media, they chimed in with their thoughts on Clark so far.

Some fans even responded to Phoenix Mercury guard Diana Taurasi who hasn't held back when giving her thoughts on the rookie transition to the WNBA, including Clark.

In any case, Clark's rookie season is sure to very closely watched and scrutinized by fans and detractors alike. She joins a Fever team looking to accelerate their rebuild and move into the WNBA's upper echelon of teams. Clark will no doubt be in the WNBA Rookie of the Year voting.

The Fever have a solid roster in addition to Clark, pairing with last season's Rookie of the Year in Aliyah Boston and several strong vets such as Erica Wheeler, NaLyssa Smith and Kelsey Mitchell.
