Why The Golden Knights Will Cover The Spread/Win

The Golden Knights had a perfect first game of the series. It started with a goal from Mark Stone. Mark Stone played just 56 games in the regular season. He has 16 goals and 37 assists in the regular season, with four goals and ten assists on the power play. Jack Eichel would assist on the goal to Stone and add another assist later in the game. Eichel played just 63 games in the regular season, coming away with 31 goals and 37 assists in the game.

Jonathan Marchessault also scored, and he was assisted by Ivan Barbashev. Marchessault led the team in goals and points in the regular season. He had 42 goals and 27 assists, good for 69 total points. He also had eight goals and nine assists on the power play this year. Meanwhile, Barbashev has 26 assists in the regular season, to go along with his 19 goals. Noah Hanifin also had two assists. He played just 19 games with the Golden Knights but did have ten assists in those games.

Logan Thompson got the nod in game one, and he could be back in goal for this one. He allowed three goals on 30 shots in the game, good for a .900 save percentage. Thompson had a 2.70 goals against average and a .908 save percentage in the regular season. He ended the regular season strong as well, allowing just three goals in 50 shots over his last two games.

Why The Stars Will Cover The Spread/Win

For the Stars, they must be better on the penalty kill in this one. In the regular season, the Stars were one of the best in the NHL on the penalty kill, but they allowed two power-play goals in the first period in game one. They will also look for a better game from Jake Oettinger. He allowed four goals on just 15 shots, good for a .733 save percentage. It was hit worst start in a long while. Oettinger had been at .905 or better in save percentage in ten of his last 11 games before that. That streak was started after he allowed four goals on ten shots against the Devils in mid-March.

Jamie Benn put in the first goal of the game. Benn had just 21 of those in the regular season, with 39 assists good for 60 points.  Jason Robertson would add a goal as well. He was the team leader in points in the regular season. He scored 29 times and added 51 assists, good for 80 total points.

Mason Marchment would score the last goal of the game. He had just 22 of those in the regular season but did have 53 total points. Joe Pavelski and Roope Hintz will look to get in the scoring in this one. Pavelski scored 27 times in the regular season with 40 assists. Hintz had 30 goals. Further, goals leader Wyatt Johnaston had just an assist in the first gamer, and he had 32 goals in the regular season.

Final Golden Knights-Stars Prediction & Pick

The Golden Knights will be looking to take a 2-0 lead in the series with game three at home. They got an amazing start with multiple players coming back from injury and making contributions. Still, the Dallas Stars are the better team here, Jake Oettinger will not have back-to-back bad games. He is one of the top goaltenders in the NHL and will show that in this game. Take the Stars to even the series.
