The “Stayward” campaign aimed to get Utah Jazz small forward Gordon Hayward to stay after he becomes a free agent this summer has met its original goal of $5,000 to get a massive billboard asking him to remain with the team.

Jazz fan Garrett Jones started the GoFundMe account and raised a total of $6,241 by Saturday at 10:30 a.m. PT, with the goal being reached as soon as Friday at noon.

“It’s pretty amazing. It’s pretty cool,” Hayward told Ryan McDonald of the Deseret News.

Head coach Quin Snyder was much more effusive with his appreciation for the campaign.

“It’s terrific,” he said. “The fact that there’s that level of awareness, if I were Gordon, it would make you feel pretty good about the appreciation people have for what he’s done this year. For lack of a better word, the love. Show the love. That’s what it is.”

Hayward has made a huge impact after coming back from an initial injury and starting the regular season later than his teammates. The 27-year-old is sporting the best scoring marks of his career with 22.7 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and a steal per game.

His shooting numbers are also some of the best of his career, making more field goals, free throws, and treys than he's ever have throughout his seven years in the league.
