Memphis Grizzlies center Marc Gasol was originally scheduled to be on a minutes restriction this season as he had just recovered from surgery done on his right foot last February to repair a non-displaced Type II fracture of the navicular bone.

But after six games so far, he has not shown any ill-effects from the procedure and has continued to log in his usual number of minutes.

But according to the team's head coach, David Fizdale, his staff will re-evaluate Embiid's minutes in February as they hope to preserve his health in order to make a deep run in the playoffs.

The 32-year-old Spaniard has been averaging 32.7 minutes so far and the team knows he won't be as effective as they want him to be in the playoffs if he'll be utilized heavily during the regular season.

Gasol has been playing at an All-Star level in the team's first six outings and is averaging 18 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists, and 1.8 blocks per game. He has also been successful in adding another weapon to his offensive arsenal as he has made at least one three-pointer in every game so far.

The continuous recovery and the experience he's had in years past make him even more valuable to the Grizzlies this year who have added key pieces to their roster last summer and are geared to compete in the tough Western Conference.
