The Memphis Grizzlies have waived forward D.J. Stephens and signed Jarnell Stokes to a two-way deal.

Per Shams Charania of The Athletic, the 24-year-old Stokes has been playing for the G-League's Sioux Falls Skyforce:

The 6-foot-9 Stokes was the 35th overall pick in 2014 by the Utah Jazz. However, he was traded to the Grizzlies on draft night. With the Grizzlies, he played in 21 games in his first two years while also spending some time in the G-League. In 2016, he was crowned G-League MVP, where he averaged 20.6 points per game on 66.5 percent shooting, along with 9.3 rebounds, and 1.1 assist. This year, he's averaging 15.2 points per game and 10.0 rebounds.

As a two-way player, Stokes, 24-years-old, can spend a maximum of 45 days with his NBA team each season and must spend the rest of their time with a G-League team. Stokes' 45 days with the Grizzlies will be prorated.

Stephens, for his part, appeared in one NBA game with the Grizzlies this season and 10 games with the G-League Memphis Hustle where he averaged 7.9 points and 5.0 rebounds in 23.1 minutes. The 28-year-old University of Memphis product made one appearance for the Grizzlies, where he notched two points and one steal in seven minutes on Dec. 8 against the Los Angeles Lakers.
