Hassan Whiteside raised some eyebrows when he mentioned that DeAndre Jordan was a player that just “catches lobs.”

This was partly surprising because Whiteside is such a similar player by most accounts.

Whiteside was asked to clarify the comments after the two teams played Friday night and cleared the air.

Via The Palm Beach Post:

“I would never diss another big fella,” Whiteside said tonight before the two matched up at AmericanAirlines Arena.

“I’m all for the big guys in the game. But I was just saying on the offensive end our roles were different. Obviously he’s a top three rebounder and one of the best defensive players in the game. I didn’t think I had to explain that, but I see I do. Quote me on that. I’m also good friends with him. He’s a good guy, man. I wasn’t trying to say, ‘Oh, he just could do this or just can do that.’ I was just saying our offensive roles, that’s all I was saying.”

That sounds better.

It is true that Whiteside has added more to his game than Jordan has over the years. He's being asked to do more than ever this season for the Heat and has really stepped his overall game up.

In that sense, he is a little different than Jordan but it's never a good look to ever take a shot at another player, no matter how small it may seem.
