The Boston Celtics may have won their 50th game of the season on Sunday, but they saw their starting small forward go down with an injury in the game as well.

Jae Crowder was forced to leave the contest late in the third quarter due to a swollen left elbow. He admitted not knowing when exactly he sustained the injury and also shared, via Jay King of Mass Live, his reaction when he found out about it.

“A little weird. I don't even know what happened. I don't even know what play it happened. I just looked down and saw it was swollen, and had to come out of the game.”

When asked about the level of pain he's suffering from, the 26-year-old Marquette product said it's not that bad. However, he added that he thinks it's a weird feeling, especially when he tries to stretch it. An x-ray was immediately done in their locker room, and fortunately for him, it came back negative and showed no structural damage.

“Not really, like, excruciating pain. It was just a weird type feeling. I've never had anything happen like that to my elbow.”

“Just like when I stretch my arm out a little bit, like, a weird tingling feeling. How concerned am I? I mean, I'm worried about it. I want to see what they say. The X-ray said pretty much nothing structural so that was a good sign. But it was weird. The doctor was saying it was weird too. Just swelling on the inside of my elbow. I don't know what it is.”

Crowder has been one of the most important players on their roster and is averaging 13.8 points, 5.8 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and 1.0 steals per game. He has established himself as a tough-as-nail defender who can guard multiple positions, which makes him even more valuable to his team.

The Boston faithful are hoping he won't be forced to miss a significant amount of time, especially with the playoffs nearing. However, should he need time to recover, Jaylen Brown is expected to receive an uptick in his minutes as he tries to fill in the void left by Crowder.
