Before there was Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook, there was James Harden, and Dwight Howard.

Rumors of the Houston Rockets duo not getting along, and animosity destroying their chemistry ran across several headlines in the media.

Howard eventually left the Rockets to sign with the Atlanta Hawks this summer after a tumultuous 2015/16 season.

Harden denies the two had personal issues with each other and tells ESPN's Calvin Watkins that if the had answers to fix things last season, they would have done so.

It didn’t bother me.I know what the truth is, it’s no beef. We never got into a heated argument. It just didn’t work out.

Trust me, if we knew [why it didn’t], it would have worked out.

Ultimately it may be hard for people to accept, but sometimes things just don't work out as planned.

It's never easy to win big in the NBA, and although the pair tried, in the end they realized it was time to move on.
