Free agent forward Jared Sullinger has signed a two-month deal worth $300,000 with the Shenzhen Leopards of the Chinese Basketball Association, according to international basketball reporter David Pick. This deal would allow Sullinger to come back to the states mid-season and crack a roster spot if he impresses during his short stint in China.

The Ohio State standout was seen playing in “The Basketball Tournament” with a team comprised of OSU alums, Scarlet & Grey, then most recently being part of workout sessions with the Brooklyn Nets, hopeful of another chance at the NBA.

Those chances evaporated when the Nets signed center Tyler Zeller yesterday to a two-year deal — making overseas ball the obvious choice for Sullinger.

Jared Sullinger's injury-prone history and repeated weight issues had raised some big red flags around the league, limiting his stint with the Toronto Raptors to merely 11 games, averaging 3.4 points and 2.5 rebounds in only 10.7 minutes per game.

He was traded mid-season to the Phoenix Suns, who consequently waived him before he ever got on the court, remaining in the free agent pool since then.

While very few had catapulted from the NBA to the CBA and then back to the NBA, this is surely Sully's best chance to see an NBA court in the near future, as the lack of action from the last two seasons has been the major reason behind the lack of interest from teams in the league.
