Started from the University of Harvard and ending up today as a role player in the NBA, the range of Jeremy Lin‘s story has expanded and touched not only basketball fans but the whole world of sports as well.

The fact that he combined, and maintained in a high level, academics and basketball has already inspired a generation of young athletes regardless of the sport they are playing. Some might say that being a good player without struggling with your studies seems impossible. But Lin proved to us that Kevin Garnett was wright. “Anything is possible”.

Today, Lin has managed to evolve from a bench player to a steady and efficient role player. His ability to step up and score makes “Linsanity” one of the top back-up point guards in the league.

Nonetheless, that doesn't seem enough for him. He might be a skilled scorer, but the fact that he had some mediocre seasons concerning the assists department (4.4 per game in six seasons) deprived him to get what he really desires: A promotion to the starting lineup.

Fortunately, after a bounce back season with the Charlotte Hornets, somewhat reminiscent of the “Linsanity” days, the opportunity showed up. He is now called upon by the Brooklyn Nets to fill the starting point guard's shoes and to lead the way in the upcoming season, along with Brook Lopez and the vastly improved Bojan Bogdanovic.

And despite the rumors that some want him to fail in handling the pressure a leadership role carries, Lin isn't giving in:

“So there’s definitely more of natural leadership position that I’ve been thrust into. I’ve been telling my family and friends that’s what I’ve known my whole life as a basketball player and that’s what I’m comfortable with.”

This season will be the ultimate chance for Lin to prove his worth, especially being at his peak age. The odds are with him, along with the thoughts of the people that he inspired with his journey so far.
