The Dallas Cowboys‘ 11-game winning streak snapped on Sunday night in New York, and the Dak PrescottTony Romo debate arose once again as a result.

A usually explosive Dallas offense was held to just seven points, with Prescott struggling mightily throughout the evening. He completed just 46 percent of his passes while throwing a pair of interceptions.

Dak's name has been thrown around in the MVP discussion, but on that night, he finally looked like a rookie.

On Tuesday, owner Jerry Jones made comments that seemed to insinuate that Dallas could turn to Romo if Prescott doesn't deliver moving forward. From Brandon George of the Dallas Morning News:

Jones called the quarterback questions a “legitimate discussion.” He was asked what it would take to replace Prescott with Romo.

“I don't have a definition for it,” Jones said, “but you'll know it when you see it.”

However, on Thursday, Jones had a much different tone, throwing his full support behind Dak. From Todd Archer of ESPN:

“The last thing I'm worried about is the fragileness of our team, our coaches, our players, one of the real qualities of this team is that nobody is fragile,” Jones said on Thursday. “We completely support Dak as our starting quarterback unequivocally so that's that. And there's no issue there at all. We're very fortunate — and I've said that — that we have depth there.

Jones still managed to express his love for Romo, though:

“And you certainly have got depth in a big way when you got Tony Romo sitting there and that's not trying to be cute. It's absolutely in our best interest that Dak, who is absolutely playing at a level for a rookie that has probably never been seen, and we want him to be able to use that and some degree of that to help us go all the way to the Super Bowl.”

Former Cowboys quarterback and current FOX broadcaster Troy Aikman said he was “dumbfounded” by the comments Jones made on Tuesday. When asked about Aikman's reaction, Jones attempted to defuse the situation:

“He might have had sensitivity but Dak doesn't,” Jones said. “I'm serious. I don't mean that negatively. I appreciate him saying it. I respect him. But Dak Prescott's No. 1 quality is that he doesn't get distracted.”
