The Chicago Bulls will be shorthanded when they play the Washington Wizards on Tuesday night.

Their All-Star duo of Jimmy Butler and Dwyane Wade will both miss the second game of their back-to-back set as the younger of the two Marquette products is dealing with an illness while Wade will be given additional rest.

Butler tried to play through his sickness on Monday against the Oklahoma City Thunder but left in the third quarter and was sent home by the team. Wade talked about his teammate's condition and also gave a message to him.

“Sickness is going around in the NBA. It's very tough to muster up the energy that you need. And a player like Jimmy who gives everything that he has, it's tough for him … He's real sick. We didn't get a lot of chance to talk to him … you can just tell. Like Coach said, whenever you see guys fighting through stuff … in the locker room, you appreciate it.”

“You want him to be smart. That would be my message to him. We obviously need him in every game. But we need him to be healthy and be Jimmy Butler to go out there and do the things he do. Tonight it's going to be critical for him to take care of himself and his body.”

Doug McDermott and Denzel Valentine are expected to fill in the void left by the dynamic duo with Nikola Mirotic and Isaiah Canaan also seeing an uptick in their minutes.
