Chicago Bulls swingman Jimmy Butler and Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry are the recipients of the Player of the Week award for their respective conferences for performances from Jan 2. through Jan. 8.

Butler led the Bulls to a 3-0 record to start the new year. The Marquette alum was an all-around powerhouse, averaging 38 points, 9.3 rebounds, and 6.3 assists for the week — including a 52-point, 12-rebound outing against the Charlotte Hornets on Jan. 2.

The 6-foot-7 swingman shot 40 percent from deep and attempted 20 or more free-throws in two of his three games this week, shooting them at a 91.3 percent clip.

Curry seems to have regained his scoring prowess after playing second-fiddle to Kevin Durant for the majority of December. He averaged 31.8 points, 5.5 assists, and 4.5 rebounds during the Warriors' 3-1 week.

His 40-point outing against the Memphis Grizzlies ultimately fell short as the team lost in overtime.

Curry's insane numbers and percentages from last season will be ultimately tough to replicate, but after shooting the ball at 47 percent from the floor, 40.1 percent from deep, and 93.2 percent from the line — it still puts him up there with the upper echelon of NBA point guards.
