The Los Angeles Lakers‘ primary plan heading into free agency was to add veteran backcourt help on one-year deals.

According to Alex Kennedy of Hoops Hype, this may include bringing back former fan favorite Jordan Farmar for a third stint with the team.

It's no secret that Farmar and Lakers head coach Luke Walton share a strong unique bond that was developed during their playing days together with the franchise. Farmar last played with Los Angeles during the 2013-14 season, but it was plagued by nagging hamstring injuries.

He has since bounced around the league with the Los Angeles Clippers, Memphis Grizzlies, and Sacramento Kings along with playing overseas with a couple different teams. If he's still got the game from a few years ago, the 30-year-old would provide the Lakers with some much-needed veteran presence in the backcourt coming off the bench and could help mentor rookie point guard Lonzo Ball.

Although the Lakers used all of their salary-cap space to sign former Detriot Pistons guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope to a one-year, $18 million deal, the team still possesses a $4.3 million room exception. The team has reportedly already met with former All-Star guard Rajon Rondo about joining the mix on that exception.

However, Rondo appears to be headed to the New Orleans Pelicans on a one-year deal to rejoin forces with All-Star big man DeMarcus Cousins.
