The Golden State Warriors were right on schedule providing an update on the condition of forward Kevin Durant, four weeks removed from a suffering a Grade 2 MCL sprain and tibial bone bruise in his left knee.

The team released a statement explaining that a return before the start of the playoffs is still a possibility and that Durant has progressed “as well as could be expected” while he's incorporated on non-contact drills before moving onto more explosive maneuvers that will test the stability of his knee.

According to the statement, his next re-evaluation will be in 7-10 days. If he's given the go, he could be in line to play in either or all of the last three home games against the New Orleans Pelicans, Utah Jazz, and/or season finale vs. Los Angeles Lakers.

After a brief two-week struggle when Golden State went 2-5, head coach Steve Kerr has regrouped this Durant-less ensemble, now building on a seven-game win streak heading into San Antonio for the back end of a back-to-back Texas showdown.

The Warriors currently hold a 2.5 game lead over the Spurs, which could be cut to a mere game-and-a-half if the streak comes to an end tonight. Golden State is facing one of the toughest stretches of its NBA season, facing five playoff teams in eight days, including four top three teams in its respective conferences.

The next challenge would be getting its leading scorer back on track after an extended absence and once again figuring out minute allocations before the start of the 2017 Playoffs.

Kevin Durant leads the team with 25.3 points and 8.2 rebounds per game while dishing out 4.8 assists and blocking a career-high 1.6 shots per game.
