The Los Angeles Lakers have agreed to a one-year minimum deal with guard Tyler Ennis, according to ESPN's Ramona Shelburne.

Ennis had shown promise during his development with the organization, making him a good candidate to come back to the team after the Lakers missed out on Derrick Rose, who signed with the Cleveland Cavaliers on Monday.

Los Angeles had made a strong push to net the best point guard on the market, but weren't able to sell him on a bench role.

The Cavs will likely have the starting point guard position open up with the imminent departure of Kyrie Irving, making Cleveland the more sensible option for Rose's future.

Ennis meanwhile can continue to grow and should see improved minutes if he continues to display a good stroke from behind the arc, as he did late last season.

The soon-to-be four-year pro averaged 12.4 points and 4.2 assists per game in his last five games with the team, posting seven double-digit scoring games during his last 10 outings with the Lakers.
